Timing Belts RPP14

RPP14 timing belts are synchronous timing belts with a pitch of 14 mm and a parabolic RPP tooth profile. This is the largest of the standard profiles in the RPP series, designed for robust synchronous drives and the transmission of higher torques. Thanks to its larger pitch, the RPP14 is primarily used in applications where the belt is subjected to higher demands than with the finer RPP3, RPP5, or RPP8 profiles.

The designation RPP14 specifies the belt profile and its 14 mm pitch. However, the designation alone does not specify the width or total length of the belt. When selecting a specific toothed belt, it is therefore necessary to also consider the pitch length, number of teeth, and belt width. Only these specifications determine the specific dimensional configuration.

 

RPP14 Parabolic Tooth Profile

RPP belts feature a parabolic tooth profile with a gradually changing angle from the root to the tip. According to the manufacturer’s technical data, this geometry allows for a taller tooth while maintaining a given pitch and, at the same time, promotes smoother engagement with a compatible drive belt. The upper tooth groove aids proper tooth engagement and contributes to a more even meshing.

For standard MEGASYNC RPP14 rubber belts, the tooth height is 6 mm and the total nominal belt height is 9.7 mm. However, the specific design may vary among manufacturers and product lines. Therefore, the values listed cannot be automatically applied to every product labeled RPP14. 

 

For what applications is the RPP14 used?

The RPP14 is primarily intended for robust synchronous drives with higher loads. This profile is used, for example, in industrial machinery, material handling equipment, automation, machine tools, packaging equipment, textile machinery, and other manufacturing technologies. According to the manufacturer, RPP belts are used in a wide range of industrial sectors.

Manufacturers’ catalogs offer the RPP14 in a range of specific lengths. For example, the following models are listed: 966-RPP14 with 69 teeth, 1400-RPP14 with 100 teeth, or 2100-RPP14 with 150 teeth. This illustrates why it is important to use the complete dimensions when ordering, rather than just the profile designation. 

When replacing a used belt, we recommend comparing its designation, number of teeth, pitch, and width. If the designation is illegible, the belt can be identified by measuring its basic dimensions. For demanding drives, it is also advisable to verify the power capacity of the specific model.

 

RPP14 for Demanding Synchronous Drives

The RPP14 combines a large pitch of 14 mm with parabolic tooth geometry. It is therefore suitable for applications requiring a more robust synchronous belt than smaller profiles can provide. The mechanical engagement of the teeth enables synchronous motion transmission and, with a properly designed drive, maintains the gear ratio between the driving and driven parts.

However, simply selecting the RPP14 is not enough to ensure proper operation. The correct width, length, tension, and design of the entire drive system are also important.
