Tapered roller bearings
Tapered roller bearings are one of the most important and commonly used types of rolling bearings. They consist of an outer ring, an inner ring, tapered rollers and a cage. The outer ring is usually rigidly connected to the circumference of the housing or bearing seat, while the inner ring is rigidly connected to the shaft. The tapered rollers are arranged between the two rings and are guided by the cage.
The main advantage of tapered roller bearings is the ability to transmit both axial and radial loads. This capability is provided by the shape of the tapered rollers, which are positioned at an angle to the bearing axes. This creates areas of uniform load distribution.
Proper maintenance, including lubrication of the bearing, is very important to maintain optimum performance and extend bearing life.
